World Naked Bike Ride: A Critical Approach

I really shouldn't have to mention this, because it is so obvious but:

We live in a shame based society. The very society and economy of our society is based on inoculating people with the idea that they are inadequate, shameful, and that they are always at risk of being discovered, and the only way to ward this off is to constantly be on a treadmill of economic productivity that benefits others. A vain game, but the only game in town.

The point of the World Naked Bike Ride is to offer a little slice of bacchanalia, to give people one day where they supposedly don't have to feel shame. But the exception just proves the rule: this carnival is meant to reenforce the status quo.

Just remember that behind those smiling happy hip naked bicycling people is the face of political corporatism and social hierarchal-nihilisticity.
