Looking for some Mythology info (preferably Japanese, Chinese or Korean)

The Internet is a great source of information. Unfortunately, there is so much other crap out there, trying to find info on Google is like trying to find a straw of hay in a stack of needles.  So, fellow DPers, I have a question for you…

I am looking for any information or leads on Mythology or ghost stories revolving around an artist’s ability to use ink (drawings) as a means  to seek revenge on others. I seem to remember a story about a man who was so distraught over the loss of a loved one he used dark magic to bring a portrait of his loved one back to life, but she turned out to be evil. Or something like that.

I know similar stories are out there (or think I know) but am having a hell of a time finding any leads. Some of you have been incredibly helpful in the past on items sucha s this and I am hoping you can toss me a bone here.

Thanks, DPers!

Cat! Needs a home

Hey everyone.

I have a cat that needs a home. It is a stray that I took in over the weekend, but it doesn't get along with my two old cats. They constantly hiss at it. I've tried to find the owner, but nobody stepped up. It was found at the Eastridge Business Park off of 117th in Vancouver, WA.

The kitty is a gray male, unaltered, about 6 months old. It's very friendly and litter box trained. Really a sweet cat, who likes to snuggle. He does meow a bit, which is his only bad habit. (My other two cats rarely meow, though the apartment is full of hisses!)

I'm leaving this weekend and can't leave the cat with my cats in my apartment, so I need to get rid of him (We named him Winston) by Thursday, or I'm taking him to the pound. Which breaks my heart, because he's just an awesome cat.

If anyone is interested, please contact me (below the cut).

EDIT Currently have someone interested in him! So, yeah for Winston!

join us to Thrill the World!

Hi all,

We thrill-killed it last year with 175 dancers in Pioneer Courthouse Square, in an urban downtown filled with the undead... and this year is going to be even more spectacular.

The dance this year is October 23rd, Saturday, at 4 pm. The date and time are chosen by the folks in Toronto who started Thrill the World and kick it into gear every autumn. We haven't finalized our dance location yet - we'll let you know as soon as we do! We will have room for as many people who want to dance.

Learning the Thriller dance ahead of time is a must ... with that in mind, there are two ways you can learn it:

--You can watch training videos on youtube. They are listed under youtube user name INESSENS; there are forty of them, numbered in order. They break the dance into eight sections and teach them individually, working up to the full Thriller.

--You can attend a practice!

We've scheduled seven practices, all of them at Fremont United Methodist Church, 2620 NE Fremont, Portland. The dates we have scheduled are:

  • Friday, September 24, 6-8 pm
  • Friday, October 1, 6-8 pm
  • Friday, October 8, 6-8 pm
  • Sunday, October 10, 3-5 pm
  • Friday, October 15, 6-8 pm
  • Sunday, October 17, 3-5 pm
  • Friday, October 22, 6-8 pm

You do not need to practice ahead of time before coming to a practice, though it can help. We are happy to teach the full dance at these practices. You do not need to register for the practices... you can just show up! They are open to everyone.

If you or someone you know wants to help but doesn't want to dance, please let us know! We can use a few volunteers on the day of the event (and in the days beforehand!).

Just like the last couple of years, we are asking for five dollar donations for participants and spectators (kids absolutely get to participate and watch for free)  - ALL of the money raised will go to SMYRC, the Sexual Minority Youth Resource Center here in Portland. We will not turn anyone away for lack of funds.

More info at ! email us at !

Wanna see what we looked like last year?

Thanks so much! Get in touch if you have more questions, and we hope to see you soon...

Peace to MJ.

Boot Camp!

Hiya lovely DPers! So, I'm looking for anyone who's had good experience with any of the local "boot camps" we have here in this town. While I'm in decent shape, I've realized I likely need to pay someone some money to get me re-motivated to get back to real work outs verus my current lolly-gagging routine. I've looked at a bunch and they all seem similar so wanted to see if anyone has real life experience! I live in Beaverton, work in SE and need an early AM or evening one.
