Sip n Shop

It's February, and Valentine's Day is just around the corner!

This Wednesday, February 3rd, we'll be hosting the Sip and Shop Social Club again! After taking January off, and having a very fun and successful December, we're rejuvenated and ready to go.

We've also moved back to the Eagle's Lodge in SE Portland, which is an all-ages venue.

Lots of great things to look forward to at the Sip and Shop this week - we're going to have homemade soup, baked goods, yummy coffee, and LOTS of sellers.

This week, you can expect over 20 vendors, selling records, lots of vintage clothes, and TONS of handmade items, including delicious soaps from Scrumptious Suds.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so stop in and get yourself or your sweetie something nice!

Art classes

I'm looking for oil painting classes for a friend who is living in PDX for the year. She is very good, but she would like to take some classes to keep up her skills. Where should I look? Does the Art Institute have painting classes? What is there beyond CC, or do they have some decent art classes?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Cheap laptop for sale

Hey DP...!

I'm selling my old laptop:

Compaq N610c for $200
P4 1.8GHz
512MB RAM (expandable to 2GB if I remember correctly)
30GB HDD (Always expandable)
14" screen
Fresh wipe and install of Windows XP Pro w/ SP3 (as of 1/30/09)

It's nothing huge and nothing amazing, but, it did get me thru school, back in the day, and I even wrote two novels on it.

Here's the CL link...

Free! Stuff!

I moved fairly recently, and I have a number of usable household items still kicking around at my old place in downtown Portland. I can't take time off work to pay a charity to come pick this stuff up during the week, so I would be very grateful to anyone who wants to come with a van or small truck to get it on a weeknight or weekend.

I need to go up to Vancouver Washington tomorrow to get some paperwork. I was trying to use Google maps to find bus routes (like I usually do) to get up to that area but wasn't able to get any results. Does anyone have any clue what buses I can take to get up to Vancouver or a website I can use to navigate my way up there?

Show Shoe Trails - Dogs Allowed

I'm going snowshoeing with a friend and we'd like to bring her dog, neither of which have been show shoeing before. Can anyone recommend a good beginner trail? My friend is in good shape but her dog is 10 so it's more about making sure we don't have to carry the dog back. Trillium Lake maybe? I haven't done that one yet.

friends and stuff

Hi! I'm new. A n00b. I'm a freshman at PSU, and to put it lightly, I have very few friends. One, to be exact. I moved here in September from Southern California, and I'm finding it very difficult to make friends. I'm eighteen and I like stuff that an eighteen year old college freshman likes. Hah. I really love Portland, and I don't want to transfer schools just because I have no friends. That's silly. I've joined some clubs on campus, but none of them have been incredibly fruitful in the friends department. I was wondering if any of you guys or gals have any tips on meeting new people here in Portland. Or if any of you people would like to hang out. Yeah... heh. Let me know. Thanks Portland. Goodnight.

A good mechanic

I have a minor evaporative fuel leak somewhere in my car that is causing my check engine light to come on, and my tags just expired, so I need to find a mechanic to repair this so I can get new tags. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic? Thanks!

Singing coach?

Any personal recommendations for local singing coaches (close-in Portland/Vancouver*)? Either someone you worked with, or who you know is skilled and kind? Cost? Contact?

*If they're simply amazing I would be happy to drive further.

Thank you.

Anyone here use any form of identity theft protection? I had some stuff stolen from my car - not much - but I'm worried it may have had personal info on there that could be used in not so great a manner. I'd like to monitor my credit/etc & have coverage in case anything DOES happen for a bit to make sure I'm in the clear so anyone have suggestions or use sites like Identity Guard or LifeLock?

So, I bought an 800 dollar camera before my trip to Europe and never received a bill in any form . The last few weeks I've tried to call them and see wtf happened, but the idiots can't find any record of the purchase. I tried again a few days ago and they found something - and are even charging me a late fee when none of this was my fault.

Do i HAVE to pay this late fee? I tried fighting for it on the phone but no luck. This is just silly..
