Babysitting fees

I looked on google for this, but I also want some hands-on opinions.

I'm meeting with a family today for a potential job of watching their two girls, a five and nine year old, and they want to know what I charge. I have... absolutely no idea what I should, in the past I've just let people pay me what they think is fair, but looking on google it seems the range can very extremely.

If it helps, I'm 20, I'd be watching them 5 days a week when they get home from school, helping them with homework, doing housework, some times driving them to gymnastics and swimming if their parents have to stay late at work.

So, all-knowing DP, what have you paid (or been paid) in the past for babysitting?
i don't know

Taxing questions

I've just spent my first year as a small business owner, and I need to file taxes. I am sufficiently daunted by the process that I'd like to see if I can afford an accountant or other help for the purpose. Can anyone recommend a tax preparer who specializes in small businesses and won't break their budget?

Power of Attorney

My grandfather recently passed away and I was left a portion of his estate, unfortunately   I am moving to Germany soon and will not be available for all the signing of letters, crossing "i's" and dotting "t's". I would like to grant my sister power of attorney, do you guys know where I can have this done cheaply and easily? I think it's just a notarized foprm right?

Urinal Etiquette

In a four urinal configuration, which stall do you take if stall #1 is taken? Do you take #3 or #4?

Is the third option to be avoided whenever possible?

informal poll

DP,
the hippies down the block persist in distributing bird seed and bread crumbs (sometimes just whole pieces of bread) across the entire width of the street in front of their house. This causes a situation in which there are often dozens of birds standing in the street at all hours of day.
Do you think they a) really like birds and somehow haven't figured out the problem with their feeding location, or b)really hate birds and want them all to die. Or, you know, c) some option I haven't considered.

Game Night THIS Wednesday

GameNightPDX is a singles mingler type of group. We meet on the first and third Wednesday each month from 7 to 10pm + for mingling over great beer and board games. OK, it really tends to be more about card games, but it is great nonetheless.

Thanks!

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who helped me figure out a price to charge for babysitting. I met with the family today, said that the general consensus seemed to be $10/hr. They were fine with that amount, and seem to be set on paying me a set monthly rate so that if they don't need me for a few days that I was suppose to be working, I wouldn't be short on money that month (is it just me or does that sound ridiculously nice of them? =) )

But yes, thank you to all your help! You guys are awesome =)

Roommates, Latkes, Breakfast-y goodness

Okay, I have some questions that have been nagging at me a bit today so I am turning to DP for help yet again:

1. My husband has never had potato pancakes! I know I can make him some at home, but a) I am lazy and b) I don't want to screw them up and ruin his first experience with their deliciousness, so... where can I find them? We live on the west side but will travel. Any suggestions?

Less specifically, the aforementioned husband can pretty much eat breakfast for every meal, so what are you favorite places to get breakfast around town? Best if they serve breakfast all day or at least a little late, but for the right place we might even get up early. =)

2. We just moved into a house in Hillsboro and our original roommate (husband's friend) couldn't stay as planned and now we are looking for a new roomie. We are planning on making the obligatory craigslist posting, but is there anywhere else we might want to look? I was considering one of the online roommate search websites, but don't really want to put money into them knowing so little about them. Does anyone have any experience, positive or negative, with these sites? Are there bulletin boards at colleges I should search out? Also, if you know someone who knows someone who is looking for a room in suburbia - send them our way! We are totally not scary, I promise.
