trailer park boys

05/05/2009 - PORTLAND – The owners of the Portland LumberJax lacrosse club have announced today that they do not intend to operate the club in Portland next season. The LumberJax franchise has been in operations for the past four seasons, in which it reached the playoffs three times, including a championship game appearance in 2008. The club’s 2009 season concluded last weekend with a loss in a West Division Semifinal playoff game.

This makes me sad in pants. Lacrosse is friggin awesome and it bums me out to see the Lumber Jax go.

Bars in NoPo

So based on my desire to check out the new Grilled Cheese Grill on Alberta I'm trying to put together a pub crawl. The problem is that me nor any of my close friends spend any time in North Portland... we're pretty much exclusively SE. Thus, I have no idea what bars are awesome and what bars are not so much.

Any suggestions for great bars in NoPo, around the Grilled Cheese Grill? We tend to prefer dive-ish bars bars like Triple Nickel, River City (RIP), Shanghai Tunnel, East Burn, etc.

Google maps suggests these:

Rocks Bar and Grill
Bye & Bye
The Know
Nest Lounge
Alberta Street Bar and Grill

(no subject)

I found a great deal at public storage for a 5x5 feet unit for $38 a month (first month $1 with a $22 admin fee)

That is a great great deal but I was wondering if anyone knew any better!

I am looking for June 12th-Sept 12th(or 20th)

Would it be totally sketch to rent a spot in someones basement? It wouldn't save me much that's for sure. I was thinking $75 for the entire span of time. I wouldnt' need 5x5 then either I think I have more like 3x5 of stuff maybe even less because I can stick some of it at my partners house.

Oh and just for background, while all of you are enjoying a beautiful summer here in good ole Portland, Oregon I will be braving the heat of Palm Springs Cali we are talking 130 degree August days and cooling off in the 90's at night. The kind of heat where it hurts to get your mail. My car doesn't have A.C. either. I get to have my little girl with me the whole summer and not have to worry about rent/food/childcare costs down there so it's a great trade off!

40 days and counting!

Another tenants rights question

We're moving out of our apartment (yay!).  We gave more than 30 days notice, we've lived here for just under 3 years.  We're scheduled to vacate on the 23rd, but we're actually moving on the 16th.  We've just received notice that our landlord is going to enter our apartment on Friday, when she knows we will both be at work, for a "pre-move-out inspection."  I know the landlord can enter our apartment with 24 hours notice for reasonable and necessary inspections and maintenance, but this feels fishy and harassing to us.  Like an attempt to find things to dock us for on the deposit before we've had time to do the deep cleaning after we move.  I've tried the renters rights hotline, but there's no answer and the voicemail box is full.  We've so far found out that in CA pre-move-out inspections are legal only if requested by the tenant, but we can't seem to find anything either way for Oregon.  Anyone know the answer?
