General Practitioners in the NE area?

Well, I'm all settled as far as furniture and unpacking, so now it's time to start thinking about the important stuff. Back home I had a really close relationship with my doctor so I'm looking for a very personable female general practitioner. I have a pretty widely-accepted insurance, so I'm really looking to go on personal recommendation.

Music Fest North West

I was blown away by Deerhunter on Friday, then Explode Into Colors on Saturday. Who's been going? What have you seen? What are you looking forward to? Is it worth the wristband price? Is Portland bursting with awesomeness?

PInts to Pasta 10K Sunday Morning?

I signed up to run in the Pints to Pasta 10K tomorrow morning. Race starts at 8 AM.

Any other DamnPortlanders signed up for this race? I know it's very early in the morning, and most of y'all will be nursing hangovers (as shall I be, probably), but if anyone wants to run it with me, feel free.

I'll be wearing black shirt and shorts, Brooks shoes, and #2067. No fedora; too sweaty.

I'm planning on running a 10:00 pace or so, maybe a bit faster but not too much. If you're faster or slower than me, it ain't no thang but maybe we can share a beer and pasta afterward.

Then I'm going to get a giant plate of strawberry pancakes at the 24-Hour Hotcake House on SE Powell, at the east end of the Ross Island Bridge. I'll probably be there around 10:30-11:00 AM.

Pub At The End Of The Universe?

Has anyone been to The Pub At The End Of The Universe in SE Portland?

A couple people mentioned it's worth checking out and it turns out that it's less than half a mile from where I live. But when I googled it, all the reviews were 50/50 on the place. Some people loved it for being a divey, laid back place to hang with friendly people and good service. Some people found it rude with horrible service.

I'm not sure now if I should bother giving it a try, especially since I saw that it's only beer/wine, and I don't like either. Has anyone been there? Do they have any kind of hard ciders or wine cooler-y type drinks? Or seriously just beer and just wine?

And subsequently, if it's not worth checking out, what's a better SE Portland spot for a drink or two?

How much is too much?

What is a reasonable price to pay for a good (used, probably) bike? I've been looking at ads on Craigslist and the like, and the prices range from $50 to $200 all the way to $1,900 (admittedly, that's for a tandem, but still.).

I don't need a racing bike with 56 gears and shock absorbers and laser gizmos, I just want a solid bike that can handle the occasional dirt road and won't fall apart and kill me.

Portland-related because HELLO.

Free piano

I have an upright piano that needs to be out of my house by tomorrow evening at the very latest - the sooner the better. It's out of tune but it looks pretty. I'm giving it away free to whoever can pick it up. Just comment here or email me at thecaitycat at gmail dot com if you're interested. I'm in NE Portland.

Even if you just want the thing to chop up for firewood... Just take it! We need it gone ASAP. I'll even help load it into your car or truck.

I've already posted on CL and Freecycle.

Basements!

For those of you have lived other places, and even for those who have not, do you think that Portland and Oregon/Washington in general are more or less likely to have houses with basements?

things to do in northeast PDX?

so i live near 68th & glisen be the FM's and a coffee house called 7 Virtues. there's a pub i hung out at on thursday that's w/in walking distance (Biddy McGraw's). i'm still getting a feel for the area. if you have any suggestions of places to check out (other than cheesy sports bars) i'll take your word on it and check it out. anyway, i'm pretty damned open-minded and not very judgmental. i'm an artist/musician/hiker/etc so any one is welcome to contact me if they want to. also, i'm a vegan, but not anal or militant about it.
