Crispy Duck?

I just got back from the UK and fell in love with Crispy Duck or Crispy Aromatic Duck.  It's slightly different than Peking Duck.  Anyone know of a place in the metro area that has it?  I'd prefer somewhere along I5 or I205 in Portland or Vancouver, but might be willing to drive out farther because crispy duck is just fantastic!

where should I stay?

Hello hello,

I'll be up in Portland the first of July with my mother, and we need a place to stay- I checked memories for Hotel/B&B suggestions and couldn't find anything. We don't need anything fancy, just a clean, safe place, preferably in/near the NE or SE- I'll be house hunting in those areas. Downtown would be find too if y'all think I'd have better chances there. Reasonable rates are a must- we aren't rich folk and 300/night places won't work for us.

On another note: Am I right in thinking the best places to find house rental listings are craigslist and the classifieds sections of your local newspapers? Does anyone know anyone renting out a house/townhouse/duplex (or a room or two) in their house come August?

Thanks guys.

Free Family Film Festival

RegalCinemas has thier Free Family Film Festival going on this summer.  Here is the link to other places that might be closer to you, but we may just go to Tigard when we can go.  Hope you go and we can see people there!

From the website:
When school's out, kids around the country visit selected Regal theatres for the Free Family Film Festival. It's a fun-filled nine weeks of movies for kids and parents. Since 1991, Regal has provided this service to the community, and best of all it's FREE!
Selected G & PG movies start at 10AM each Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. First-come, first-served seating is limited to theatre capacity. The Free Family Film Festival is safe, lots of fun and a great way for kids to spend a weekday morning in the summer.

EDIT:
I apparently missed a great post on other free/cheap things to do this summer.
Here is the link to it just in case I wasn't the only one. :)

Edgefield/Troutdale B&B/Hotel Suggestions

Hey everyone!
In late September my boyfriend and I are going to attend My Morning Jacket at the Edgefield and want to make a weekend of it. Unfortunately it seems that the Edgefield's hotel rooms are booked. Can anyone recommend a nice B&B/hotel in the area?

(Also, do they accept waiting list requests for rooms? Thanks!)

I would like to thank all Damn Portlanders for giving me (a pregnant lady) a cupcake craving after yesterdays conversation.

I was wondering if anyone here has adult onset diabetes? I need to start actually worrying about what I eat and such. Bread makes my sugar really high and that's really what I eat, I'm poor. I don't want to live off celery or something. Um, yeah. I know I can talk to a doctor or nutritionist but I wanna start eating right now and knowing what I can eat in the area is helpful. Thanks.

Pedi/mani in NW?

Good pedi/mani in NW, inexpensive and since I've heard a lot of bad things about Dosha - a place that isn't Dosha...help me oracle?

It's really just me, not a group, not even two people. Just a treat for myself for surviving grad school this long.

Two pups are better than one?

So I read this quote about how two dogs are easier than one but three dogs is like having sixteen...

..would any dog owners say this is true?

Only having one pup myself, I don't really see how having two would be easier, unless they kept each other company and picked up each other's poo?? My boyfriend wants to get another dog, but Im on the fence...

so the quote.....load of crap or does it make sense?

Free birthday things!

Hi it's my birthday tomorrow and I was wondering if there is any places to go to get free things.

My sister and I are going to Ben and Jerry's because you get a free cone if it's your birthday and then we are going to the First Thursday in the Pearl.

Thanks!

Muchas Gracias?

Hmm so I am sure this will get me snarked buuuut..

I saw some local news teaser on *gag* Fox about weird meat in a local "Muchas Gracias" burrito or something. My husband eats that stuff just about every day in Vancouver. I tried to sit through the horrible drivel to get to the story but I had to take a break to have a stiff drink and try to get through the rest (or something) and I must have missed it.

Anyone know what the hell? Which Muchas Gracias? Has my husband been eating fingers? Because that's just yucky.
