Tattooed People of Portland

I think that the last time I posted in here was well over 2 years ago, but I know that this community is very helpful, so I'm hoping that I can get some good responses.

I'm working on my final project in my photography class and am looking for about 10 people with tattoos to photograph (maybe even couples... whether friends or romantic... would be nice). My focus for this project is color, so colored pieces are a must. Also, it would be nice if the pieces were medium to large in size.

Unfortunately, I can't pay you for your time, but I will give you a CD with the shots to do with as you please. I'm not a professional photographer by any means, but I think that I do take pretty good pictures.

Also, I'm working on a timeline with this project, so I would like to get the shooting done within the next couple of weeks. Due to my schedule, it would have to be done on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons or anytime Friday-Sunday.

If you're interested, shoot me an email (missmyla on gmail) with a picture of the piece and a headshot, as well as the story behind it (as the story is also very important for the project).

If you have questions, let me know. Thanks!

Visiting Portland for First Time

Hey all. Wow, this is a busy community...nice.

In a couple months I am gonna visit Portland for the first time. Everyone I like who has been there says it's a great city and I'll love it. I am going to check out Powell's, and I have other places written down, some touristy and others "off the beaten path."

I am still looking for more recommendations on what to see/where to go/what to do, though. I'll mostly be Downtown, but plan on visiting other areas too, 'course.

Anyways, here is some stuff I am interested in, and if you see something I write and think, "Oh, she should go here..." please let me know. And if we have similar interests, please add me to your friends list or mail me. I use my journal for business purposes, but also write about a bit of everything.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

It has been forever since I posted here! How are you? I'm just fine.

I have a few questions.

1. Has anyone been to Hotel Vintage Plaza? A friend of mine wants to rent a fancy pants hotel room and he favored this one.
http://www.vintageplaza.com/index.html

2. This same friend is coming to visit Portland in April after having been in Iraq on two deployments. I've lived here all my life, so I'm sure I'm taking some awesome places for granted. Where can I take him that's awesome? I probably should be asking in a few months, but I like to think ahead. I've already covered Powells, the huge library, the waterfront...where else? Keep in mind we'll only have Tri-met, like any good rose-city ers.

Thank you guys :D You keep me entertained with your youtubes.

PSP Tragedy...

Anyone know anything about PSP's?  My son dropped his ON CARPET for pity's sake, yesterday and cracked the screen.  Now the stupid thing won't come on.

Anyone have any suggestions for a repair place?  I can't find anywhere on the Sony website where they do repairs....

We found these in Newport this last weekend as were wondering what sort of animal they came from. So, of course, I bring my question to that great repository of all human knowledge known as DP.

Sorry if the pics are not the greatest, I can take more if need be.

Prosthetic artist needed!

I am in need of someone who's good with custom costume prosthetic pieces, nothing big, just a nose. Does anyone have any leads on whom I should speak with? Local would be preferred because they will likely have to take a cast of my face/nose.

Thanks, ya Damn Portlanders!

    It's A Beautiful World - Devo

Oh that Hillary!

While the Clinton campaign is busy digging up nonsense like what traditional costumes Obama has worn overseas, the press here is looking at her background when she was a lawyer.

In 1975 she represented a charged child molester, attacking the 12 year old female victim and dicounting semen and blood from the accused.

Donating my car

Hey all,

I've decided to get rid of my Volkswagen Jetta.  It's served me well for the last year or two, but it's days are done.  I hasn't had reverse since I've owned it, and a couple months ago it got broken into -- a broken rear window and a torn out stereo and heating system.  Unfortunately over the course of winter, my makeshift window has done a poor job of keeping the moisture out, and it's gotten a little...um...fungus-y.

So, I'm looking to get rid of it.  Any ideas for a place that I can donate it to?

Well, that was exciting...
AT 11:53 A.M. A FACULTY MEMBER NOTIFIED PORTLAND STATE'S CAMPUS PUBLIC SAFETY (CPSO) OF A NOTE FOUND IN THE RESTROOM INDICATING THAT A BOMB WOULD DETONATE IN NEUBERGER HALL AT 4:30 P.M. ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2008. CPSO IMMEDIATELY LOCKED DOWN AND EVACUATED THE BUILDING AND VERFIED THE POSSIBILITY OF A THREAT. THE UNIVERSITY ESTABLISHED AN INCIDENT COMMAND CENTER. PORTLAND POLICE HAVE SWEPT THE BUILDING. THE UNIVERSITY IS CONTINING THE INVESTIGATION AND WILL KEEP THE BUILDING CLOSED AND SECURED UNTIL AT LEAST 5:30 P.M THIS EVENING. CONTINUE TO CHECK THE WEB FOR UPDATED INFORMATION ON EVENING CLASSES (UPDATED 1:45 P.M.)

NEUBERGER HALL IS CLOSED AND ALL CLASSES IN NEUBERGER HALL ONLY ARE CANCELLED UNTIL AT LEAT 5:30 P.M. (UPDATED 1:21 P.M.)

A CURRENT EVACUATION IS UNDERWAY AT NEUBERGER HALL DUE TO BOMB THREAT. ALL PERSONS SHOULD IMMEDIATELY LEAVE AND NOT RE-ENTER THE BUILDING UNTIL NOTIFIED. NEUBERGER HALL IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. INFORMATION WILL BE UPDATED AS SOON AS AVAILABLE. (UPDATED 12:34 P.M. 2/25/08)
I swear, I didn't do it. I was in class at the time. I also found it hilarious that while you couldn't walk past the building, the police were letting people congregate right next to it on Broadway. So much for public safety.

x-posted.

Off and on

So Dannybear is very sick. I have this fever on the forehead and a sore cough. Is anyone else in town dealing with this? Do I have the super virus that will kill me? Reassurance is helpful. Just wondering how the city is doing.

the awesome

the drum bands playing in front of the new location of the virginia cafe at 4:30 today.  i had a pretty shitty and frustrating day, and that just put the biggest smile on my face on my way home.  i wish i had known in advance, and i would have walked there after work, rather than just drive slowly by.
Bling

apparently....

I talk about DP a bit. My husband and I were talking about finding....something or other...a few days ago. He told me "You got people, ask them."

"Huh?" says I, ever so eloquently.

"On LJ. The damnportlanders. You got people."

Of course, now I can't remember what it was we were looking for.

ETA: And per the standard rules, I remembered as I hit "Post". Someplace classy and cool to take my mom for dinner when she visits in June. She likes places that usually run about $25-$40 per person for dinner and a drink and is well up for "interesting" or "ethnic" as opposed to formal place settings and silence, if that makes sense.
