How to score autographs

Back in High School, I sent a self addressed stamped envelope to Conan O'Brien and asked for a signed photo, which was eventually sent to me.

What I'd like to do now is score some autographs for my girlfriend's Christmas present next year. But I can't find a (free) website that gives me addresses to send requests to.

The specific autographs I'm looking for first, are of the cast of "The Office." Even the second tier characters.

Anybody have any ideas?

Ice Cream Biker

This is what the city needs more of in those warmer months. Peace and Harmony would arise from the simple sharing of a frosty cone when the bridges are up or the lights are red. What would be better than that?

DEATH AND TAXES 2008

A tax wonk friend of mine requested me to ask here to see if anyone has seen this poster around? Specifically, the 2008 edition?

Yup, it's available online, but she's looking to pick it up locally.

If you haven't seen it, suggestions on who might carry it are welcome.

Thanks!
pretty butterfly

This is the most ridiculous request ever...

...and I apologise in advance, but...

Did anybody watch American Idol last night and see that freaky feather outfit guy sing?

I need the Lyrics to the song he performed on the show.

Renaldo Lapuz is his name and I watched the youtube video a zillion and a half times (ok,ok, three times was way more than I could take) to try and get the last lines of the song but I can't quite make it out.

Here is what I have so far:

I am your brother, your best friend forever
singing the songs, the music that you love
Brothers till the end of time,
Together or not you're always in my heart
(and here is where I can't figure it out)
something something hurt your feelings
something something (sounds like) your ready no more

Yes, it was quite special.

So, would anyone be willing to help a crazy girl figure it out?

I'm in the market for a new iPod. I don't have all the money yet (still working on it!) but I'm debating between the iPod classic and the new iPod touch.

Anyone have the iPod touch? What are your thoughts on it?

I'd like the classic, because the idea of having the intertron always at my fingertips is a bit daunting. I spend a lot of time on the 'net already, and I don't think I need to have it always readily available (in fact, part of the reason why I'm trying to get my new job is because it's away from telephones/internet and the like). Also, it has video/music capabilities, which is really all I need*.

However, I played with my cousin's iPod touch the other day, and it was pretty neat. The only real problem I've heard of with it is that the black screen can sometimes make it hard to see what's going on.

How does the iPod touch hold up? Have you had any problems? Does it scratch easily? Is it super sensitive (to being dropped, etc) ?

Thanks!

Also, looking at it again--the Touch doesn't have a whole lot of space in it, does it? 16 vs 160 GB? Seriously, Apple?

*I also really want the iPod classic so that I can buy this... haha.

Icy Grape

A former co-worker opened up a store downtown called "Icy Grape". I haven't been in yet, but I hear it's pretty swanky. He was... not the most motivated person at this job, but I guess he's doing what he likes now, I hope so anyways.

People have been saying good things, has anyone been in there? How is it? I don't know the address, it's next to a starbucks.

Trendy clothing store, btw

Butter bell crock?

Hey guys... I'm trying to find a peculiar product (at least to some). I'm looking to find a butter bell crock, locally. I can find it online all over the place, but I'd rather buy it in town. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, you can read here: http://www.butterbell.com/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=9 It would be especially awesome if it were manufactured in town, as well. Almost everything I've found is made overseas. Seriously guys, lets not waste all that fuel to transport things!

Thanks in advance everyone!

*ETA - Thanks everyone for the suggestions! :)*

Giving away a typewriter

My partner says I have too much stuff, which is good news for you.

I am giving away a Coronamatic 2500. Pretty, huh? It works, is in good condition, and is free.

I live in Milwaukie, work in North Portland, and also work in NE Portland by the airport. The quicker you can come and get it, the more likely it is that you can have it.

Cool? Reply here.

how do I find free hugs and cuddling people?

News Flash: I found the organizer of Love Tribe and will have their help! Thank you, damnportlanders!

Hello, damnportlanders! I just opened a gallery at Everett Station Lofts in Old Town, and the February show is themed "Sensation: a touching show." There will be visual art, music and spoken word about touching, art that's meant to be touched (furry, tactile, all that good stuff.) A few years ago, I went to a gay and lesbian pride day that had a "cuddling" booth, but I was too shy to join in. I've looked everywhere for these people, and it's much easier to find naked jousting bicyclist than it is to find people who will cuddle with strangers. Help! I even joined a "cuddling tribe" web site and they haven't emailed me back with event info. :( Anyone know how to find them? Failing that, any damnportlanders who are willing to cuddle for the sake of art?

Thanks! And, of course, let the snark begin....;)

Middle Eastern Food/Al Yasmeen?

So, as an Arabic language learner I've always been really interested in the culture and cuisine as well- I love love love Lebanese/Middle Eastern food, and I feel like I have noticed a lot more Arabic restaurants than I used to (before, I only knew of Nicholas', Al Amir, Hoda, Ya Hala, and Habibi...I think). Anyway, I noticed one on the Beaverton Hillsdale Highway sort of by where I just moved to on Barbur. It's called Al Yasmeen- anyone been there? I ask because it sort of looks more like a bar/lounge as well, and I was just wondering what the atmosphere was before I dragged my less-willing-to-try-new-things friends over there. Also wondering if the food is good/authentic/whatever.

Or, likewise, if you have an alternate recommendation, I'd love to hear about it! I just discovered "Pasha" too (friend celebrated her birthday there, and I noticed a lot of Arabic influence at the place..). Thanks in advance! (shukran jazeelan!)

EDIT: Also remembered I saw, further up the highway toward Beaverton, might have actually been on Canyon road... an Arabic food market (or maybe it was just meat?) Don't remember, I was driving and trying to focus more on the road... but noticed the Arabic writing... anyone know what I am talking about/been there?
WAT

I MUST WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Anyone have a copy of Zardoz I can borrow? Will exchange for gigantic, home-made chocolate chip pecan cookies! Or, without pecans. Whatever. I borrow it for the weekend, you keep the cookies!

Or, is it at Movie Madness? I don't feel particularly inclined to give them my SS number just so I can watch this apparently delicious bounty of cheese, but I will if I have to.

I'd call them but my phone was shot off in D'Nang. So, thpbt.

Nevermind, found the search feature on their site. Still, I would rather borrow it for cookies instead of moneys.
NYC Subway Mo 1

Thankful Thursdays, Portland-Style!

1. Being stuck right behind a Tri-Met bus during the morning commute--and seeing the advert for the upcoming Chocolate Fest on the back of the bus! Serendipity is amazing! And I am so excited that Cacao will be at the Chocolate Fest! :)

2. Being alerted by a post on damnportlanders last week about the re-opening of Red & Black Cafe, in the LoSt neighborhood!

3. Automated outage status line for PGE--sure, it sucks to lose power, but I am glad that there is a system for checking up on the status of outages.

4. More places in the neighborhood to investigate: the Grand Central Bowl supposedly has re-opened. It is nice to know that I can enjoy a "night on the town" within the inner Southeast neighborhood!

5. Expresso workout bicycles at March Wellness! It's like playing a video game!

Ikea Furniture

Has anyone here who have gone to Ikea and gotten furniture there had any trouble putting the stuff together?  I'm thinking of getting a sofa bed and a home entertainment center there but want to know if they're easy to assemble and/or worth getting at all.  If not, where are some good places in the area that are cheap and of good quality?

I also have a small car (VW Beetle) so I'm wondering if I got something big from Ikea would I be able to fit everything in the car?  I know they deliver but I was told that Ikea charges sales tax to deliver to Vancouver where I live.

I have some cool bumper stickers, but no bumper to put them on. I've covered my school note books, so other than those, I'm wondering what the car-less damnportlanders put their awesome stickers on?
