Meth says what?

Portland related because we have a meth problem, I guess.

But apparently, this woman sued her drug dealer for dealing her meth, when she wanted to buy meth, because she meth she wanted to buy put her in a coma for 11 days.

But seriously.

If you buy meth, don't you assume the risks that perhaps you're an idiot and when this concoction of chemicals almost kills you, don't you consider yourself lucky it didn't?

Now, I'm no fan of drug dealers, but to attempt to say that she intentionally tried to hurt you because you bought meth from him is stupid.

Thankful Thursdays, Portland-Style!

After a short winter break (spent in NYC), it's back to the weekly routines!

1. Sharing a cab ride back from PDX (after a very late-night arrival, after MAX stopped running) with a fellow damnportlander.

2. Gnocchi Thursdays at Nostrana. Yum!

3. Pix Patisserie's 5-year anniversary event all weekend long! I look forward to checking out the dim sum event on Saturday evening.

4. Delicious vegan parfait at the vegan Sweetpea Baking Company! Bonus for the bakery being just few blocks from my apartment in LoSt.

5. Seeing foot-long Tofurky dogs at Food Fight! vegan grocery store!

6. Mirror In The Bathroom: large mirrors at my gym, which helped me avoid a huge social embarrassment of walking out of the bathroom with the "cowboy hat" (seat covers) stuck to the gym shorts!

7. No sales taxes in Oregon. After a week in NYC, this is a nice change.

San Fran.

Have any of you ever lived or spent a significant amount of time in San Francisco?
There are a couple of schools there that I have been looking into, somewhat, and I'm wondering if moving there after i'm done with this whole PCC thing would be a horrible idea or a completely awesome one.

I need a haircut

so, i need a hair cut and i was wondering where i can go to get a nice cheap hair cut in north portland, i don't need anything too fancy, somewhere i can just walk in, get a cut, and leave. i looked online and found Stella's Barbershop, has anyone been there, are they any good?

also, has anyone here been to backspace (http://www.backspace.bz/index.php)? what do they have there in the way of games/food (i know they're vegetarian, but are they any good?)?

oh yeah, also, do you people tip barbers, or is that just my mom..?

akemi sounds cool too, anyone know anything about them? http://www.myspace.com/akemisalon

What's your birthday?

I've had THE SECRET LANGUAGE OF BIRTHDAYS book for a while now and started having people sign their day over a year ago. It would be fun to meet some one born on each day of the year! (But, highly improbable, besides I don't carry the thing around with me or anything). :)

So, starting today I thought it would be cool to "pimp" for virtual days on DP. Maybe I can meet each day of the year On Line. Its still fun to see who I naturally cross paths with in real life though. Sorta akin to a small social experiment. Anyway... what day of the year were you born?

Meditation: "Opening on'es heart can be accomplished either surgically or spiritually."

If you add your day Here I'll comment with the Title of your day and some other tidbits from its 2 pages. Oh, and I'll only 'friend' you if you specifically ask, since it does happen to be my friendslock entry.

EDIT: If I haven't gotten to you yet, I will... :) (and to think I was going to make this a weekly thing, HA! =)
Let me know if I missed anyone, there were a lot of comments and I hope I didn't accidentally skip over anyone.

A Candidacy's Prose and Cons

A very insightful Clinton vs. Obama article on their different ways of campagining. I put in bold the paragraphs I thought were most interesting.

By E. J. Dionne Jr.

CONCORD, N.H. -- Hillary Clinton may have unintentionally written the obituary for the Iowa and New Hampshire phase of her presidential campaign, and perhaps her candidacy, when she told voters on Sunday: "You campaign in poetry, but you govern in prose."

Anybody going to Floater tomorrow?

I'll be the three hundred pound shirtless twenty-something white guy yelling "DANNY BOY! DANNY BOY!" tall-ish dude with black hair and a DK back patch. My name's Jesse. Say hello.
