dead bodies

Out of curiousity, has anyone seen the Body Worlds exhibit at Omsi? Is it worth $21 bucks to see? It just sounds so interesting, but I'm not sure if I want to spend so much if it's gonna be lame. I know it only opened on the 7th, but I figure somebody must have gone to it already...

Massage and Pedicure?

So my mother-in-law sent me some birthday money, and for once I want to use it on ME, and not crap I need for the house..

So I'm wondering, where is a good place to go get a pedicure and massage? Preferrably under $100.. I know this can be possible, as the place I normally get my nails done, has pedicures, that are pretty damn good for $23. But I'd like to get it all done at the same place just this once :)

West side is preferred, but I can really travel anywhere in the Portland-Metro-Area.

Any ideas?

Help me find a nurse practitioner!

I graduate from PSU at the end of this week, and after this week I'll no longer have access to the student clinic.

Here's me: I live in Irvington. I have no car, but I do have two good feet and a bicycle, and also a flexcar pass if absolutely necessary. I've covered with Regence Blue Shield insurance through my parents. I would like either a doctor or nurse practitioner that is down-to-earth, friendly, preferably within walking distance, NOT TOO PRESCRIPTION-HAPPY, and readily available. Someone who does not have a thick accent of some sort would be good, too-- although I've got a good ear, I've had some unhappy mixups in communication with previous doctors.

Please help! I've been meaning to figure this out for weeks, and now I have a UTI and no room at the clinic to take care of it. Whoops.

Thanks, Portlanders!

film development

Where's the cheapest place to get film developed? Yes, I'm talking about old school 35 mm camera kind of film. I'm still living in the dark ages. Anywhere close in Portland is okay, and it need not be 1 hour photo. Cheap is better than fast.

BOOBS! BOOBS! BOOBS!

OK, now that I've got your attention, does anyone want some free firewood?

I have about 15 ft^3 of dogwood that I just had trimmed out of my tree, all cut up nice and ready for stacking, splitting, or burning, although it might do well with a few months of drying beforehand.

Here is a pic!

Anyhoo, it's F-R-E-E to anyone who wants to come haul it away.

Here are the directions if you want it and can come and get it:

1) send an e-mail to me: littlebluedog at livejournal dot com.
2) include your phone number so I can call you, which I will do ASAP if the wood is still here.
3) write down my address, which I'll give you; mapquest me; come get wood.

Please note:

- I WILL NOT hold it for you (but I'll tell you if it's still here and/or if anyone else has told me they're coming over).
- I WILL NOT deliver it to you (unless you live like right across the street, which you don't).
- I MIGHT help you load it up (but it depends on if I'm home).
- I am currently NOT offering anything else for free, so please don't take anything other than the wood.
- Requests for any of the above will likely be cheerfully ignored.

And just so I'm not accused of false advertising, here is a pic of Scarlett Johansson's boobs.

Talking about SAD when we should be glad

Hello, damnportlanders! I've been lurking for a couple weeks, ever since my wife said, "I don't think we have any choice but to move to Portland." On the one hand, I'm thrilled! I want to go NOW, but we are going to wait four or five years, after her daughter graduates high school. On the other hand, I'm really worried about my honey! She loves hot sunny weather--she's like a lizard; she goes tanning a few times during the Boston winter when her mood is at its blackest and it helps a little.

I annoyed her this morning when I was reading to her from "Rains all the Time," a book about the weather of the Pacific Northwest which basically says "It's not as bad as people say." My wife said today that it made her feel bad to keep hearing "it's not that bad" (from me, from the book, from our lj friends who live in the pnw_ when she knows it really is going to be that bad for her. Three cloudy days in a row and her mood goes in the toilet.

Am I insane? Should I be arguing for us to move somewhere else? Should I be working on hiring an architect to make a home tanning salon to add to our future house? What should we do? Please don't tell me "it's not that bad," my wife will kill me. Our second choice is Austin, but I work outside, and my wife thinks that I will die if we move there.

Movers

Hello Portland. I am moving from Philadelphia, PA and I am trying to find good movers (or I'll just Uhaul if there isn't such a thing as good movers).

I know a lot of you have moved there from other states and at least some must have had good experiences with movers! Please share! (I have googled but I'd much prefer personal experiences).

Thank you and see you all next month!

Bigotry in our fair city? No, say it can't be!

So was anyone else disturbed to hear of this.
http://www.katu.com/news/local/7938512.html

Our society needs to get past these ignorant acts of bigotry. I mean lesbian teenagers getting kicked off a tri-met bus for, what, kissing? I have on multiple occasions seen heterosexual couples engaging in "heavy petting" sessions on tri-met and not word one was said. It's just interesting, just when you think you live in a liberal city that should be above this level of behavior, it happens.
