I have a wonderful Nikon D50 digital SLR camera on sale for 400$ (its going to be 450 on craigslist, this is my "friend" sale) it includes the camera, an 18-55mm lense, strap, batterie and charger, software, manuals, and a camera bag= on top of all of that i'm including a 1gig sd memory card so this is a SUPER good deal! Let me know if your interested!

a good dentist?

Does anyone know of a good dentist in either SE or downtown who might possibly take evening or Saturday appointments? I'm in a lot of pain, and I don't think the dentist I'm currently seeing has any idea what she's doing. Thanks in advance!

post yer portland pics

Last time I did this, I only got a few replies, but since the theme was "post yer boobs!", only a few was just fine. :)

BUT TODAY, I'm hoping that you will post a favorite pic of Portland. Or some part of Portland, or somewhere close to Portland, or something (or someone) Portlandy. Your own pic would be good, or someone else's if that's ok with them, or link to one you found somewhere that you really like.

Let's see what cha got!

techie question

I have an OLD computer that I built years ago...it's on it's last legs. It started making the noise like the power supply was dying...so I replaced it. But now, although it boots up, I see nothing on the monitor (checked all cables, etc). So then I am thinking the monitor died, or some glitch with the power supply. Tried it with another monitor...nope. So now I'm thinking the graphics card is dead. The thing is, I just need to get some stuff off the hard drive (pics and music) and then I'm going to chuck the thing. I hate to invest in a new graphics card... ANY ideas? or help?

Thanks!

Senator Wyden at TPMCafe

Senator Wyden is participating at the Talking Points Memo Cafe bookclub discussion on Sick: The Untold Story of America's Health Care Crisis. He's detailing his plan for health care reform, and there's a rather lively debate on its shortcomings. What I personally appreciated was his thoughts that we don't have to wait until the 2009 election and change in presidency.

For a pretty clear understanding of Sen Wyden's position and bill proposal for health care reform, I would highly recommend reading his post here.

Common Ground Wellness Center/ Inner City Hot Tubs

Someone asked about Inner City Hot Tubs here a while back. I received an email yesterday that clarified the confusion (Are the hot tubs and sauna closed? Are they closed for good? Are they moving?) that was started by rumor and hearsay. You can go to the updates section of their website for more information by clicking HERE! Your questions will be answered. In short the answers to the above questions are yes, no, and yes.

karl rove is in town today.

karl rove, deputy chied of staff to george w. bush, is appearing in tigard today. nooooo, he's not here on his national hip hop tour, smarty pants. he's here to promote corporate dominance, greed, and the oppression of common people.

let's go say hi, shall we?

he'll be scheming at the embassy suites hotel, 9000 washington square road, in tigard. doors open at 5:00 PM, the event starts at 6:00 PM.

there's sure to be a crowd outside. security will be tight. bring protective gear, and brace yourself for cops. <3
Dingo

Dog Kennels

I just had to let you guys know.

Somebody mentioned the Airpet Hotel the other day on here.

We've been in the market for a new place to take our dog when we go on trips. Anyhow, I just got back from dropping our dog off there and I have to tell you, I'm really impressed! They were SO helpful and SO nice I have complete faith that Dingo will have a great time. In fact, I went in to check on him a few hours after I dropped him off and he looked like he was having quite a nice time!

Thanks for the tip!

puppy lovers!

What kinds of dogs do you damnportlanders have? I've always been interested in what kinds of dogs people have, and why. Near where I live there are lots of people with American Pit Bulls and Staffordshire Terriers, I guess for home protection.

As you can see by my userpic, I have a Siberian Husky. Some people aren't aware of the disposition or reputation of Siberian Huskies...they're not protective or territorial, they're overly friendly and don't bite people. I come across people every day that walk 10 feet around me on the sidewalk when I'm walking him. Do you guys ever encounter behavior that surprises you in reaction to your pups?

Any pics you have would be great!

Belated Thankful Thursdays, Portland-Style!

1. Dancing cherry blossom petals (the quaint dancing motion of the fallen petals as light winds swirl those pink delicacies on the concrete surfaces of streets).

2. Free scoop day at Ben & Jerry's ice cream stores next Tuesday!

3. Breathtaking view of the downtown and eastside skylines at night, as seen from the Portland Aerial Tram.

4. The comfort of knowing that I can find Vosges gourmet chocolates at fine Portland shops, such as Foster and Dobbs, and Cacao.

5. While in New York City earlier this week, discovering that the yummy, Portland-based Moonstruck Chocolate packages are being sold at the newly-opened Whole Foods Market in the Lower East Side! Portland represent!

Seeking a summer babysitter!

Hello, friends.

I'm looking for someone who'd like to make some cash this summer hanging out with two lovely little children. My kids are 7 and 10, and as you can see, friendly and loveable.
Collapse )
I'd need someone to watch them two days a week at least, maybe three some weeks. I would realllllllly like to find someone who has a car and can take them places. If we're a good match, I'm sure I could find some work for you before summer break. I also have a friend with two kids who needs babysitting from time to time.

I found last summer's babysitter in DP and she worked out great. The kids loved her. She moved partway through the summer, which sucked for us but was good for her, so if you're planning on relocating mid-summer let me know NOW. :)

More details are available upon request. If you're interested, let me know and I'll hit ya with my email address.

Thanks!
