Thanks to those of you who made plans to come over to buy my movies and never showed up...
Nothing bothers me more than a flake! grrrrr
I'll have remember not to sit around on a Saturday waiting for people from the internet...

We made this while waiting...

I call it... JERKS!

flakes can be a pain
when you waste a day waiting
and no one arrives

This is a question for everyone, but mostly for recent arrivals (which is many of you).

Have you ever been to a place with as many drawbridges as Portland? I kind of take them for granted, since of course I end up behind them quite often. But I don't think many cities have quite as many drawbridges in quite as vital of a location as we do. In fact, I think for most people, drawbridges are a little like blimps: a discarded technology that isn't used much, but still has some quaintness value.

And I have to admit also, even after being around them for so long, and even when they inconvenience me, I still get a little bit of a thrill when I see them move.

Dental help please!

My partner's filling fell out last night and is really starting to hurt him now. The problem, of course, is that he doesn't have any insurance. Are there any options beyond that OHSU school of dentistry that I've heard of? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

where can i get the best free resume writing tips? my biggest hurdle is the fact that i have been sick for fifteen years,
but i have an education and have no idea how to approach that gap, or which of my work history to concentrate on,
since it has been such a while ago. thanks so much!

My dear DP'ers

Boyfriend and I are moving next weekend, and need movers. We've done the rent-a-U-Haul-and-rope-friends-into-helping-move thing twice over and don't want to deal with it again. I'm a bit leery of picking someone at random off of Craigslist, and the Oregon DOT's Guide to Moving is a bit confusing, so I turn to you, damnportlanders, for your opinions and advice and snark.

So, any recommendations for a good mover? We're moving from a 1 bedroom apartment in Hillsboro about 5 miles to a 3 bedroom house in Beaverton. Mostly what I'm looking for is a mover who's honest (won't overcharge us or hold our stuff hostage) and is reasonably priced.

Errrg I feel creepy

Not to be a gossip but somebody got shot in the head in the Belmont Market, right near our house, about an hour ago (34th and Belmont). In broad daylight. I always feel so safe in this town. I'm shocked. Anyone know what's going on?

Several weeks ago there was a post about where to recycle styrofoam. Of course I can't find it now and magically have bags and boxes of the stuff to get rid of. Where can I drop this stuff off to recycle? Thanks!
