Rent schoolbusses?

Does anyone know where I could rent 5 or so schoolbusses and drivers for four hours? I do NOT want charter-style busses or coaches, but regular 50-passenger uncomfortable puke-green-seated schoolbusses. Well, modified busses ala Burning Man would be cool, but only if I can get enough of them to haul 250 people (around town only, no highway needs, ten minutes per trip) for a few hours some Saturday this summer.

Does Tom Potter gotta choke a bitch?

Mayor Potter, Tom, buddy, pal, let's chat.

Remember the good times, Tom? All the fun, the laughter, the ability to convince me to lamely gimp around the city sticking notices on doors urging people to vote for you? It was special, Tom. Nobody ever made me do that before. It felt dirty, but exciting at the same time. Like fucking in the back of your grandmother's car after borrowing it for "a quick run to the store." I even kicked in for beer, donating the maximum $25 to your coffers. Remember how we laughed at the press for saying you forced a runoff, when you had really trounced the other guy?

something to do with your thursday

Billy Ray's Neighborhood Dive hosts QUIZZY, a 4-round, 40-question trivia night starting around 7:30 every Thursday. Prize is a free round. The emcee is pretty entertaining, and plays eclectic music between rounds. Billy Ray's is on MLK a few blocks north of Broadway in NE. See you there.

Loan Question

So because of a snafu with my ex and taxes and stuff...

My taxes won't arrive for 6-8 weeks if I'm lucky. However, I'm relocating to Eastern Oregon at the end of March, and had planned on the 4K for moving expenses. Does anyone know of a "better" title loan or similar loan-type place that you would recommend? I know I'll be gouged with interest, but at this point, beggars can't be choosy.

Thanks for your help!

(no subject)

After talking with a coworker about how his mom carries a handgun in her purse everywhere she goes I started to wonder.... Do any you do stuff like that? Have you ever felt the need to carry "extra insurance" as he put it?

Parenting is ALWAYS Portland-related

Actually, this doesn't have diddly-poo to do with anything, but I haven't been posting in here much and maybe some parents can relate. Commiseration is a good thing. :)
---

Y'know, I actually PREFER single parenthood to my previous situation, for a number of reasons. In most cases, I was kinda single parenting anyway, just trading off a little more frequently than I do now. I have no problems handling a couple kids at the same time, overall. I'd never compare myself to someone who has raised their kids as a single parent, going through babyhood and toddlerhood and all of it. I have two sisters who've done that and I STILL don't know how the hell they did it. But, I'm good with kids. I can handle 'em.

Some days, though, it just kicks your ass.

iso music help

Hello again dear damnportlanders!
So the long story short is there is a piece of music I am looking to have transcribed.  It simply does not exist as sheet music, according to the artist (EDIT: she says "hopefully someday but not yet" but since the album's 20+ years old I'm not holding my breath for her to print it).  I have it recorded on disc, but need maybe 8-16 bars in some kind of visual format.  So, I'm looking for someone who might be able to listen to the piece and write down the notes, for free or a small fee, or for advice of other ways to get this done (including pointing me toward a different LJ community, but there are 400-some which list "music" and 300-some which list "musicians" and I just don't know where to start)...  Anyone have a word to offer?
thanks
