Scaredy Cat

(no subject)

Hello peoples...I know I have been away for a while but I have been just kinda busy lately going to friends and relatives places that I barely have tim eto update.

Just a question...

How do you put playing music in the e-mail without recipients opening the attachements....just like the one ones you see on some spams like those encouraging ones where the gifs and sound play right away without the people actually opening the file....

So, is there a theater in this town that regularly screens old movies?

And I don't mean stuff from a few months back, or the occasional cult flick. I'm talking someplace that'll play The Birds or Modern Times or Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.

TEFL in Portland

Has anybody here taken a TEFL certification course in Portland? If so, could you tell me about it? Where did you go, how long was it, how much did it cost, etc. So far I know of PSU's courses, but am curious if people have experience elsewhere, or what your PSU experience was like. Thanks!

Anyone in here gone for the PMP certification?

I'll be up for the testing in two years, and have the required five years on the job experience. I was just wondering what sort of things were gone over, what I might be able to expect.

Of course, I don't actually expect answer, but thought i would toss this out on the off chance answers actually existed out there :)

Thought it might be cool to chat someone up who's been through the process or is a member of PMI, which i'm also looking into (although, very slowly because I'm overloaded with projects and school right now.)

So my kitty is sick, well not exactly sick, just acting weird. I took him to his regular vet but they didn't seem to think anything was wrong. I want a second opinion though, and I was considering taking him to a more natural, hollistic oriented clinic. I know there's one in the vicinity of 23rd and Hawthorne but can't remember the name. Can anyone help me out? Do you guys know what I'm talking about? Can you reccomend another vet (I've been taking him to Rose City clinic)? My kitty and I appreciate your help!

Here's a neat legal debate for you, DP, and all you attorney-types. Did Texas just in fact outlaw ALL marriage, not just GAY marriage?

H.J.R. No. 6

A JOINT RESOLUTION proposing a constitutional amendment providing that marriage in this state consists only of the union of one man and one woman.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Article I, Texas Constitution, is amended by adding Section 32 to read as follows:

Sec. 32. (a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.
(b) This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.

SECTION 2. This state recognizes that through the designation of guardians, the appointment of agents, and the use of private contracts, persons may adequately and properly appoint guardians and arrange rights relating to hospital visitation, property, and the entitlement to proceeds of life insurance policies without the existence of any legal status identical or similar to marriage.

SECTION 3. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2005. The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the proposition: "The constitutional amendment providing that marriage in this state consists only of the union of one man and one woman and prohibiting this state or a political subdivision of this state from creating or recognizing any legal status identical or similar to marriage."

Apartments/housing

Long story short, My apartment manager threatened to kill my husband, and we are suing him. We also need another place to live as we do not feel safe here anymore. We dont have good credit and dont want to waste our time on application fees, just to be denied. We also dont have a lot of money. So this is where I need your help, oh kind and wonderful and philanthropic DPers. We need a 2 to 3 bedroom place in the SW (ceder hills, beaverton, tanasbourne, etc). Hopefully willing to work with us on move in fees, or perhaps even give us a month or 2 free rent for signing a lease. Thank you all so very much in advance!

Random Question

I love jewelry. I'm sick of my current office job and spend WAY too much time online looking at jewelry and trying to absorb more knowledge on the subject...

Anyhow, my question is:

I thought it would be fun to get a job in a jewelry shop. I'm thinking along the lines of Fred Meyer Jewelers, or Sales or something like that...I have retail experience but nothing really in fine jewelry. How does one go about getting a job in fine jewelry? Do the stores just hire like any other retail store? I'm sure they do background checks and stuff and that is fine. Do they hire people without jewelry experience?

Thanks!

Good business alert!

I bought a really cool pair of pants at Local 35 (35th and Hawthorne) made by this company Brown Sound Clothing and the zipper was messed up and wouldn't stay up. Only I didn't really catch on till I'd had the pants for several months (no, I was not wearing them much). Anyway, I emailed Brown Sound and they got in touch with Local 35. Brown Sound sent me a free new pair of pants, didn't need the reciept, didn't ask for the old ones back, and threw in a t-shirt too!

So: Local 35 and Brown Sound Clothing - good folks!

YAY for Meier and Frank!

So, yesterday I went into Meier and Frank at Lloyd Center to look at jewelry for my mom's birthday gift. I found something that I knew my mom would really like so I proceed to talk with the sales lady (she was really nice, especially since we had to write notes back and forth for I am Deaf). She informed me that all of the jewelry would be on sale starting today and gave me the sale price. I told her that I would be back! Sure enough, when I walked in today everything was on sale and to my surprise there were a LOT of stuff 50 % off, some even more. I picked up the gift and paid only $53.55 when the original price was $140! That's about 75 % off, what a deal!

So you people, if you're looking to buy cheap stuff, Meier and Frank's sale is going on through Friday. :-D

Cheers

Username curiousity?

My mother was talking to me the other day and said how boring her chat name is. She wanted me to help her find a username and I was trying to explain to her that it was really personal and that she had to come up with something to fit her. So I was thinking about some of the usernames that everyone has. I know that most people have a reason for picking their particular name. For instance, I know that adameros got his name because it's his name or drjeff is another pretty obvious name, but others like cheekyassmonkey must have an interesting story. *grin* I am curious of the story behind some of the more unusual usernames. If you feel like sharing, share just how or where you came up with your LJ name.

So.. how did you get your name?

Texans ban gay marriage (shocking!), but Democrats clean up in New Jersey and Virginia.

Yay!

(Yes, Bloomberg cleaned up...duly noted)

And since we're talking about politics...

I so swiped this from a friends journal, but it bears repeating. Bush is borrowing more money than every single President that came before him...combined.

Good Times!

EDIT - Apparently Texas banned all marriage!

Sec. 32. (a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.
(b) This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.

Identical or similar to marriage...haha!

Adventures on the sea of wax

So i took some pipes apart to take a look.

anyone need any rods of wax? I have them formed and ready to beat someone over the head with!

Any hope that i had of the garbage disposal having been rescued by me scooping out a huge portion of wax on the day it happened has been eliminated! The trap stopped it from heading further down the drain. Thanks trap!

I put the pipes back together because strange gurgles were coming through them, and they scared me. So when i get back from florida and have time... i'll break everything apart and hope i can put it all back together again!

No sink means no cooking means... anyone wanna feed a poor sinkless rat?

:)~

I'm thinking this old garbage disposal might make a wicked candle too... maybe if i light it on fire... the wax will melt and i can use it again? It's... mostly metal... mostly...

Let this be a lesson to you boys and girls, wax and drains DO NOT MIX!!!

Sure has made life interesting though!
