update

earlier I posted this.

Well.. after seven hours in the ER at St Vincents, and a CAT scan AND an MRI scan....no one had an answer for me...my eyes are "perfectly healthy" and there's no pinched nerves or tumor or brain abnormality that those scans picked up.

I'm tired. Thanks for all of your support and suggestions and hopefulness....I think that it's probably stress related and hopefully will go away before it gets much worse. Thanks guys! I'm definately glad to know there's no broken blood vessels or blood clots or tumors or whatever goin on up there.

Heads Up re: identity theft risk via PDX public mailboxes

To those who use public mailboxes to send in bills, etc:

The U.S. Postal Service in Portland is changing its locks on mail collection boxes after four keys belonging to the postal service were found during an identity theft investigation.

Portland Police stumbled upon the keys during an investigation at a northeast Portland apartment in the 4600 block of Killingsworth St.

The keys turned up along with at least 200 pieces of stolen mail, forged checks, counterfeit money and crystal meth, said police Sgt. Brian Schmautz.

In addition, a total of 18 master keys -- which open 10 to 12 mail collection boxes -- are missing and the Postal Service assumes they have been stolen, too.

As a result, Schmautz said there's not a lock box in the city that isn't vulnerable.

The 22 keys in all were apparently stolen in April from a postal worker's car.

"At the time of the car prowl, the postal employee apparently did not realize the keys had been taken from the car," Schmautz said.

In order to minimize the potential of mail theft until all the locks can be changed, Portland Postmaster Franklin Diggins recommended that customers give outgoing mail to their letter carrier or take it directly to a post office branch.

bored

It's early and I find myself bored. Is there anything of any intrest going on today? Not into anything that would make me want to hug a tree, end up in jail, end up too drunk, or end up with possible broken bones.

game stores

OK DPers, what's your favorite game store in town?

I don't really care if they have the world's largest selection of D&D books or discounts on crates of M:TG cards.

What I'm looking for is a place that carries stuff like Settlers of Catan (and its gabillion expansion packs and spinoffs), Puerto Rico, Bohnanza, or any Cheapass Games.

Update:
Went to Rainy Day Games, bought Alhambra, Get Out, and Set Sail. Wow. That place truly is geek gamer heaven.

Thanks for all the recommendations!

Job Seekers

This is an unofficial job announcement.

If you need a job, the Jantzen Beach Home Depot could use some people. Various openings/departments available, or so I hear. No paper applications, so go into any store and apply using the kiosk or apply online through homedepot.com. Dont ask for a manager or HR as they will not see you unless they ask you for an interview. Just apply.

(no subject)

I've had dreads for about two and a half months now and since my boyfriend just moved out I don't have anyone to help me do the maintanance they need (backcombing, twisting). I'd do it myself but it's hard to keep the dreads sectioned well without being able to see very well. I don't want to go to a salon to have them worked on because sitting in a chair for two hours without being able to get up and take breaks or listen to music and stuff like that doesn't appeal to me. So, i'm wondering...does anyone out there have dreads that need any maintanance work. If so, would you like to get together sometime and help one another out with our hair? could be fun. Could meet up at a park, house, even a coffee place or something. Could be fun! A chance to get to know someone new.

I know this is kind of a random question. But, if anyone is interested my email address is little.dead.bird@gmail.com or leave a comment. Thanks...hope all of you enjoyed your weekend!
