an assignment for the DamnPortlanders

I have an assignment for all of you.....

So I'm sure everyone has seen those awful tacky Vitamin Water Posters on every street corner downtown. I know they are on W Burnside and SW Macadam Blvd. I'm sure they are other places as well.

Well steal one. I believe it was illegal for them to put it up in the first place, so help clean up the city and remove these ads before we are all brainwashed.

Take it home and change it. Paint on it, draw on it, write poetry and glue it on. Anything you want. Keep the themes if you'd like (focus, energy, rescue, power). Post it on here for all the DamnPortlanders to see. I will create a Vitamin Water art gallery online.

The rules:
-You must cover up almost all of the print. Don't let a corporate company advertise on your art!
-Use any medium you would like. Anything.
-Steal two! (there are two attached to each pole) and share with another DamnPortlander.
-Post it here or send it to me for our Vitamin Water gallery.

Ready, set, go!

Question for the body mod enthusiasts in portland::I need your help!

I just had my second and third christina's pierced last monday and they have been healing marvelously...except this morning when i got to work i was walking and felt one of my barbells slip out. yup! fun! i can't get the barbell back in because the piercings are curved and...well...thats kind of an awkward angle. anyway, i need to find a piercer ASAP.

So portlanders...do any of you know of any piercing shops that open before noon? This bitch is healing up fast and i need to get metal back in there before i have to resort to getting repierced at the shop i normally go to. I'm looking for a decent shop where they're experienced and won't try to dick me around. I've been trying to call every piercing shop to find a place to go, but i thought i'd check with you, dear portlanders.

So I need a haircut, where to go?

I don't need anything fancy, just a basic "make my hair short please" and prefer to keep it cheap. So... any places like that (inner SE is preferable, but I'm open to hear other spots as well) with folks that know how to cut fine hair?

Thanks much.

Crosswalks and Bicyclists

On the street in front of the office where I work, there's a crosswalk. Most drivers observe it properly and stop where indicated when a pedestrian steps into it, but some just barrel through, oblivious to anyone waiting to cross.

Yesterday when I got in at noon, I heard people in the elevator talking about how that morning, the cops had been running a sting operation, with a plain-clothed policewoman repeatedly crossing the street and two motorcycle cops chasing down anyone who didn't stop for her.

Today, when I got to the crosswalk, someone had already started across from the other side, so I didn't have to wait for anyone to stop so I could cross. Just as I was about to step off the curb, however, a woman on a bicycle rides by without stopping. If I had been a moment faster, she would have hit me. (By the way, she wasn't wearing a helmet.)

Bicyclists are supposed to observe the same traffic rules as cars, right?

Okay, Qwest has royally pissed me off.

Who should I contact? State Attorney General, BBB, the FCC, Steven Seagal...

Any other names I should add to that list?

Also, did anyone else sign up for their promotional DSL offer and go buggy-eyed when they got their bill?

Can anyone help?

Does anyone remember, or have any of you heard, that funny .wav file about "Bordom's books" and "Children's Books You Won't Find?" It has The Magic World Inside The Abandoned Refrigerator, Daddy Drinks Because You Cry, Grandpa Gets A Casket, Etc. I found all the jokes to 'read' but I want to find the audio file. Can anyone help? It's FRIKKIN funny as hell!!!

my car has gremlins

So my car is dead. It died tonight, right on Burnside.

Two things:

-City Towing Co. Inc is good. I would like to recommend them. Fast, friendly, and no surprise fees. They charge (at 9pm) $45 and $4 per mile. (503) 255-3500

-If anyone would like to look at my car and see what they can do, that would be great. My boyfriend's dad looked at it and has decided that the engine had "siezed up". It seems I will need a new engine. I will get a second opinion first, of course, but I am looking out for rebuilt Chevy Baretta engines (1989ish).

AMERICAN IDOLS TOUR...

Okay...
So... I bought tickets yesterday through someone here on damnportlanders.. and I have one thing to say.

THANK YOU!!!

I was VERY skeptical on how good it would be, and all I can say is... WOW. It was so F-ing wonderful! We were FRONT ROW CENTER, and were less than 5 feet away from all of the idols. It was so good!

EVERY SINGLE performer was ON, and were SO MUCH better than on TV. My boyfriend and I made eye contact with Nadia the WHOLE time, and she kept looking at us and smiling, and winking, and she obviously loves her gay boys. Or, maybe it was because we were 2 grown guys, in the front row, screaming, and blowing kisses, and having an awesome time!

I know, I know, how ridiculous, but the truth is, it was so much fun! I have been to some awesome concerts in my time, but this is close to the top. If you get a chance to go, in another town, or even next year, go, it was so fun! Constantine, Vonzell, Scott, JESSICA, NADIA, CARRIE, and NIKKO were so good, the only weak links were Anthony and Anwar, which were my least favorites anyway.

Okay, that is enough. Goodnight! ;)
