Help me get rid of this stuff!!!!!

I cleaned my closet and I have tons of stuff to trade. Clothes and misc. stuff, shoes.

I would rather trade (since my reason for this journal is to get something I may like) but if you want to make me an offer-- go ahead. Please check this journal if interested.

Email me at amejia@pdx.edu if any questions

Is anyone going to Kumoricon?

Kumoricon is Portland's up-and-coming anime convention. The second one is in September. Three days of anime, gaming, and mingling with people dressed as colorful characters. The first one was so successful that they had to turn people away at the door, yours truly included!

Here are a few pictures I took of cosplayers at this year's Sakuracon in Seattle. Chances are a lot of these people will be at KumoriCon this year.

These are pretty much the best of the ones I took, there are more at my LJ:

This PDX artist ROXXX!!!

I was in Stumptown on belmont the other day, and came across this AWESOME sculpy artist.....Little rows of cute little pop-art types doods in scuply, as well as these elaborate diarama type scenes with creatures that reminded me of pastel "Dark Crystal" characters or something! SO AWESOME!!!!

Check out the website...this is the kewlest Sculpy work I've ever seen.

Knitters? NE/Holywood SnB

I am just starting a SnB session for the NE portion of Portland (there was a lack of anything in this area)

I think Monday's from 6-9 and they close at 9:30. I'll be there at
5:30 or so sometimes earlier depending on Max traffic and work load.

the address is : 3930 NE Hancock Portland and it used to be the
Hollywood Library.

My number is 503 548 8994 if anyone has any questions.

I look forward to seeing you!

I've put this on both e-mail lists through Yahoo so you might have seen it there as well. This has been x-posted...

I'm a tourist...sort of

Okay, I'm going to be in Portland on the 18th - 21st.

I'll be trying to see:

Powell's
The Oregon Zoo
The Classical Chinese Garden
The Japanese Garden
The Rose Garden
The Saturday Market

Is there anything else I should see while I'm there?

I'm also curious as to who else might be going to the Mc Chris show on the 20th?

Thankful Thursdays, Portland-Style!

1. The sweet smell of jasmine-like scent wafting while walking in the neighborhood.

2. Tickets to the Irvington Home Tours this upcoming Sunday.

3. Taking meditative walks in the rain and the wind--it is worth the fuzzied hair, a la A Flock of Seagulls!

4. Seeing a row of relaxing cats on the sidewalk gracing a warm evening.

5. Delicious artisan cheeses and sorel and arugula leaves from Portland Farmers' Market.

6. Discovering the beauty of the bicycle trail in Northeast Portland, which run along the Columbia River (adjacent to Marine Drive).

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Crossposted from my journal due to Portland content and the wish to be a posting whore. :)
----------------

I wrote up a big post earlier today about pain and meds and tolerance and emotion and disability and music and stretching and exercise and personality. Then, as I always do, I deleted it. Suffice it to say that I was infinitely glad that today was refill day. I was way, way ready, and my hips no longer feel like they were borrowed from the Oldest Man in the World. Whewwwww. The miracle of chemistry!

It's effin' GORGEOUS here. 72 degrees, sunny, breezy. The city is absolutely saturated in green, as it has been raining relentlessly for the past month or so. Everything looks all lush and pretty. I was driving away from the post office this afternoon, windows down, sunroof open, and this guy was kind of maneuvering his car out of his driveway and blocking my way. He cleared the way, and I passed, and we gave each other these huge smiles. It was the Portland Smile... the one that says, "can you fucking believe that we live somewhere THIS NICE?" You see it a lot in the spring and summer. It's hard not to... you're sitting in your car, or walking along the sidewalk, and you're covered by a canopy of leafy trees and there are kids out playing and people walking around feeling good about things... you can't avoid the Portland Smile at times like these.

In the winter, when the rain is pouring, we give each other a smile that says, "yeah, but it's gonna be reallllly nice here in the spring."

I can see 10 million shades of green from my window. My neighborhood is filled with the sounds of birds and breeze, and a distant lawn mower. The neighbor's two-year-old is laughing as he rides his trike. Someone is washing a car.

The meds are kicking in.

Life rocks.

Is there a doctor in the...city?

as I am one of the few people I know with health insurance I don't know anyone who has a doctor (primary care physician) and now I need one but don't know anyone who can refer me. Do any of you have a doc who you think is super fantastique? It would help me out a lot. Also, I only have a bike so somewhere inside Portland (SE, downtown) would be ideal, as opposed to the 'burbs

Alright, It's Portland related 'cause I'm from Portland.

Here it goes:
My settings on LJ have always been so that my login never expires on my computer. Lately, I've found that I'm not been logged in, so I'll log in, click "Never" and then change settings. I will then click on a different page (go to my friends, to my pictures, anything) and it'll log me out, forcing me to sign in again. I'm not closing the browser at any point, merely changing pages within the window I have open. I've tried it with both safety settings of IP address, and nothing's going. I'm getting annoyed. How do I fix this so that I don't have to sign in EVERY time?

(And if it helps at all, I'm a paid user, and I use IE.. (don't go into how its the devil. I'm OK with it).

Thanks in advance!

I hate PGE.

Today PGE turned off my power because of a glitch in THEIR system. THEIR system. It took them over 5 hours to turn it back on. When the guy came to my door and said I hadnt paid my bill in 3 months, I told him he was crazy. But his little paper said different. He was also unnecessarily assholish. So fuck you very much PGE. For the whole rant, check out my personal LJ :)

Four eyed?

I remember at the last meetup most of us were wearing glasses, so I have a hunch DPers could give me some top-notch advice.

Yesterday evening I was driving back to Portland from Salem, and it was that time of evening when it starts to get dim and the streetlights and lighted signs come up, but still pretty light. I was looking around and I realized "damn, everything's pretty blurry and stuff". I've had the same lenses since before I moved up here in '98, and it seems my advanced age (40) is starting to tell on my eyes.

So, DamnPortlanders and fellow vision-impaired, who is your optometrist?  I need to have my eyes checked again and possibly get a stronger perscription. Tell me who you've seen and convince me I should let him or her within millimeters of my corneas!

Thanks and smoochies all around.

Tomorrow I'm flying home to Portland after attending college in Bumblefuck, Ohio for four excruciating months. I'm so glad to be coming home! I've missed everything about Portland... the trees, the public transportation, even the homeless. And of course all the awesome people, and that whole not being stranded in the middle of nowhere deal.

Just thought I'd share the love :D
