So has anyone ever posted a picture of their penis here before?

It seems like it must have happened, but in the 3 or 4 years that I've been here, I don't recall anything of the sort ever having come up, if you'll pardon the pun.

Hello, folks

Hopefully this is permitted here, as it pertains to education in the city?

I am hoping to move to Portland in the fall, and my excuse for coming will be to study in a university. I do not have enough documentation to go to one of the more selective schools there, but could probably be admitted at Portland State University and Concordia University. I cannot choose which I would prefer, though, because I could find virtually no "unofficial" information on the latter.

From what I can tell, PSU is a fairly straightforward, large public university, but what about the other? I know that it is a Christian school, but some religious schools are pretty cool, while others are flat-out intimidating to me. It would seem that a smaller school with smaller classes would yield a higher quality of education, but I would prefer not to accidentally enroll in a postsecondary prep school, if this makes sense.

Do any of the members here know more about Concordia? Know anything about it?

Thank you

Good afternoon, everyone!

I'm flying to Boston this summer, with a layover in Salt Lake City. I've only been on a plane once, and it was a short trip from Reno to Portland. What I'm wondering is, will I fly directly over New York? That would be really cool.

Free kitten(s)?

My friend just got out of a really bad relationship and is now lonely and really wants a kitten or two. Anyone have any ideas where to look? I've looked on Craigslist but nothing. She'd come pick them up today if needed.

She'd be a great kitty-momma!

Scene: Bus 77 (SE 82nd), coming back from Wordstock. The driver slowed to pick up a man, who had been waiting in the light rain. He boarded, promptly ripped his transfer into shreds, and tossed them at us, the passengers. As the shards of white fluttered to the floor, he exited and walked off. He looked furious.

"What did we do?" a woman near the front asked, loudly.

Does The Roseland have any kind of box office? If they don't, is there anyway to get tickets other than through ticketswest's website or one of the retailers (safeway, music millennium, ect.)? Ticketswest has the most insane service charges. I mean, ticketmaster has bad ones too, but still better and almost every ticketmaster venues has a box office where I can buy for a very small fee.

I am sitting in Powell's right now, and from out of nowhere, a group of about twenty people formed a can-can line on Burnside. Did anyone else see this? Was this a planned event, or was it just one of those weird Portland random things?

Interestingly enough, it starts pouring ten minutes later. Maybe it was a rain dance.

Wow. I just saw a guy take a piss against a car tire. Right on Hawthorne, across from Common Grounds. His friend served as a lookout.

Who takes a public piss at 4 in the afternoon on Hawthorne? And before you ask, no, I'm pretty sure they weren't homeless.

In need of a mantra

Hey all you DamnPortlanders!

I've had a rough day. I spent the weekend in Seattle and met a really nice guy, my car had an electrical fire and I had no choice but to kick my brother out of the apartment today by which he retaliated and kicked in my front door which broke the frame.

The maintenance people came to fix the door, my bother is now out of my apartment and that nice guy I met..well it's not going anywhere. The car I can handle when I get off work tomorrow.

Any wise words of kindness? Got something that I can think of besides my craptastic day?

Okay, this is a bit much:

I don't smoke any substance, but i have a MASSIVE problem with our current federal mandatory sentencing laws. Sending non-violent drug offenders to do hard time with really fucked up people doesn't do much to help to recidivism problem that we have in U.S. prisons right now, much less the amount of money we have to pay to fund all this shit.

There's a bill in the U.S. House right now that would put a FIVE YEAR MANDATORY minimum sentence for just passing a joint to somebody who has once been in a drug-rehab program.

5 Years for Passing a Joint: Stop this Bill Now

Republican Congressman James Sensenbrenner has launched his next assault on freedom. The full House Judiciary Committee is set to vote as early as next week on H.R. 1528, which creates a new group of mandatory miniumum penalties for non-violent drug offenses, including a five year penalty for passing a joint to someone who's been in drug treatment.

That's right: Passing a joint to someone who used to be in drug treatment will land you in federal prison for a minimum of five years.

The "Defending America's Most Vulnerable: Safe Access to Drug Treatment and Child Protection Act of 2005" (H.R. 1528) was introduced by House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) on April 6, and it has already passed out of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security...

all you have to do is to just visit here, and it will auto-generate a letter/fax/email to send off to your Congresscritter. it takes 30 secs or less.

EDIT: oh yeah, and tell yer friends.

It's crawfish season! Does anyone know where in town I can get a good, old fashioned, cajun crawfish boil? I tried Jakes once, but all I got were boiled crawfish in a big bowl with plain water and a side of marinara sauce. What I'm looking for is a hot, spicy, soupy mix of cayenne pepper, garlic, and other spices with corn on the cob, potatos, other veggies, and crawfish all boiled together and served on a slab of wood with a stack of napkins. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... i miss it sooo....

That reminds me.. I also haven't had a kolache in ages. Are there any places to get those? Man I'm hungry.
