renter's insurance

i've tried a bit of looking around online
even hit up a few quotes
but still not finding my answer...

Does/Can Renters Insurance cover animals??

After today's break in and corrent moving has me considering it
Of all the things of value, the biggest IMHO is the animals, and i've know of people having certain reptiles stolen
just like to know of they can be insured as well....

one company (state farm) asked on their online quote if i had "wild animals" but didn't really go into detail just what "wild animals" were... i clicked yes anyways, but didn't know if it was asking for damage purposes or coverage.

Guess i'm probably actually going to have to sit down with an agent and discuss the issue

Cafes in BFE

So I just moved out to 155th and Glisan, but realized I don't know where any sorta cafe might be. Is there out here at all? Not having a car limits the proximity of course, anyone else live out here? where do you go when the caffiene headache is raging and you don't want to spend an hour on the bus to get there.

The Hideaway

Just thought I would let everyone know that The Hideaway is the raddest dive bar EVER. I am going there tonight with some friends so shake my butt on stage because the place kicks ass. They over pour on shots, good people, great music. It is on 82nd and Holgate and again... it is rad...and I thought I would share.

Prospective student to UO

Does anyone know of someone staying at the UO dorms? Do you go to UO? If so, and you wouldn't mind/they wouldn't mind having a prospective student stay in their dorm for just tonight please let me know. Oh, and for my mom's sake, only the gals.

I'm going to the Duck Days tomarrow and sitting in on classes.
Thank you, (sorry about the cross posts), Klayr

P.S. any other information about UO or Eugene is greatly appreciated.

So, I was thinking today "Hey, what a great day to go find that soup place a friend of mine was talking about!"

I have no idea what it's called. She said that you go in, they put broth in front of you and you add veggies and meats and whatever, kinda like soup fondue.

Anyone know if such a place still exists? How much it costs, etc. Gimme the low down :)

I Love My Hairdresser!

For anybody who is looking for a new stylist-

I was in a funk yesterday but could not postpone a haircut any longer. I went to see Rob at the Cutting Crew and he cheered me up as always with talks of secret biker parties and whatnot. And....he got me a birthday present! http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/biblio?inkey=7-1400050332-1 He called me a spoiled brat as well, but that's not so far off from the truth. :) How cool is that?! And my hair looks smashing AGAIN. So if you're in the market, go see this fabulous man. Apparently the other people who work there are great too. http://portland.citysearch.com/review/8470481

Have a good day DPers!

I did a search on Portland communities and am not sure if this would be the right place to post this but I'll give it a try...

I'm from Texas and my boyfriend and I are moving to Portland in August. We are not sure exactly where we want to move yet (NESW Portland), but we know it needs to be by a PCC campus. We'd like a small one bedroom house but an apartment would be fine too. Do you guys have any suggestions on some nice areas with pretty cheap housing?

If I'm posting this in a wrong community, redirection would be great.

Thanks so much!

Southern Europe, here I come!

It's been a month and a day since I'd posted on this topic (my journal, and DP), and certain huge items have changed since then...
Namely, the one RL friend I had in Europe has been strong-armed (I like to think) by a new boything to cancel friendships with all other males in her life, and I am subsequently left without a travel partner for my trip this summer. No great shakes socially, as I am more than independently capable when it comes to radically epic adventures, though I would like to cement a few contacts out there to facilitate the access of certain non-touristy elements. Essentially, I will be on a wickedly thin shoestring budget and will jump at the chance to set up associations with other compassionate residents of the countries I'll be travelling through if only to save some much-needed cash by avoiding hostels at all costs.
If any of you fine LJers out there have good friends (or family?) out yonder that would enjoy putting up a clean, polite and educated young guy for a few nights, I'd love to make your acquaintance! I'm a pretty fine cook, (fairly competent in other domestic skills, as well) and can offer these in barter (and cash, too, if needed) for their generosity.

Landing in Frankfurt on Saturday, July the 15th, I'll be looking southward to the Mediterranean for most of my travels until I leave via Frankfurt on October the 4th. Of course, the coast is my current goal, I am open to improvements on my itinerary if you've informed opinions to offer...

Thanks for all the wonderful responses to the previous posts, and for those who've offered their help in-person that I have yet to get back to, please repost if still available. I greatly appreciate it, and I'll owe you all a bang-up dinner and such!

Thanks again!!

x-posted to my journal

ps: anywhere else I should post this to?

Car = awesome

I have roughly 1.7k to spend on my first car. It doesn't have to be a beauty queen, it just has to run. Automatic is a must since I don't know how to drive a stick. My dream car, other than it works, doesn't have anything seriously wrong with it, and I don't care too much how many miles it has. IT JUST HAS TO WORK!!!

Where is a good place to look? I looked at Craig's list and the idea of calling random people via search ads doesn't appeal to me.

Can anyone tell me...

...Where I can go to get my Doc Martin sandals repaired? The stitching on the side where the leather connects to the sole came loose, and it is not something I am able to fix myself. I bought them at Shoe Mill about 3 1/2 years ago, if that means anything.
